  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    E-scooters and e-bikes.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

On 6 June 2026, officers from the Medway Community Safety Unit carried out a targeted operation aimed at tackling the antisocial and unlawful use of nuisance vehicles, including e-scooters and e-bikes. During the operation, 5 e-scooters were seized and riders were issued with warning notices for using their vehicles in a manner that caused nuisance, alarm or distress to others. These warning notices can be used when a vehicle is being driven in an antisocial way and may lead to further enforcement action if the behaviour continues. Operations such as these help to improve road safety, reduce antisocial behaviour and address concerns raised by local residents. Officers will continue to carry out targeted enforcement activity to tackle the misuse of e-scooters, e-bikes and other nuisance vehicles within the community.

  • Priority:

    Fly tipping.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Fly-tipping remains an ongoing concern, and officers continue to work closely with Medway Council and the Environment Agency to identify those responsible and support enforcement action where appropriate. Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste and can have a significant impact on local communities and the environment. As part of a recent joint operation, waste carriers were stopped and their licences checked to ensure waste was being transported legally.

Encouragingly, all of the waste carriers inspected during the operation were found to be compliant with the relevant regulations. Officers and partner agencies will continue to monitor the situation, carry out checks and take action where illegal waste disposal is identified.

  • Priority:

    Drug taking.

    Issued 15 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers carry out regular high-visibility patrols in Chatham High Street and the surrounding area to tackle drug-related activity and help keep the community safe. As part of this work, officers stop and speak with people suspected of being involved in drug offences and, where legal grounds exist, may carry out stop and searches. These proactive patrols have led to a number of arrests, and individuals found in possession of drugs have been dealt with appropriately. Officers will continue to carry out targeted patrols and enforcement activity to deter drug-related crime, gather information and provide reassurance to residents, businesses and visitors.
