Road safety issues.

PC Latter and PC Cartwright have continued to carry out regular and proactive speed enforcement checks across our rural villages. These checks take place at a variety of locations and times to provide a visible police presence and address speeding concerns raised by local residents.

Alongside enforcement activity, officers have engaged directly with motorists, offering advice on safe driving and highlighting the risks associated with excessive speed, particularly on narrow rural roads. Where offences have been identified, enforcement action has been taken, including the issuing of Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) and the seizure of vehicles being driven without valid insurance. A TOR is a formal report issued when a driver is suspected of committing a road traffic offence and may result in a fine, driver education course or court action.

This ongoing work aims to improve road safety, deter unsafe driving and protect all road users across our rural communities.

Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

Officers have been working closely with the local council and partner agencies to address areas where antisocial behaviour has been reported. This has included a number of joint visits with housing providers, enabling a coordinated approach to tackling ongoing issues and supporting residents affected by nuisance behaviour.

As part of this work, officers have issued Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices (CPNs) to individuals whose behaviour has been having a negative impact on the community. A CPW is a formal warning designed to address antisocial behaviour at an early stage, while a CPN is a legal notice that can be issued if problems continue and may lead to further enforcement action if breached.

With the arrival of the summer months, reports of antisocial behaviour have increased, particularly in the Matfield and Brenchley areas. In response, officers are increasing patrols, including more frequent high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations, to provide reassurance to residents and deter further incidents.

We continue to rely on information provided by the community and encourage residents to report any incidents or concerns. Information from the public plays a vital role in helping officers identify offenders, focus patrols effectively and take appropriate action to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve the quality of life for local residents.

Fly tipping.

We are pleased to report that there have been no recent reports of fly-tipping in the area, which reflects positively on community awareness and responsible waste disposal.

However, it remains important that any incidents are reported promptly if they do occur. Residents are encouraged to report fly-tipping to the local council or police and provide as much information as possible, including the location and descriptions of any vehicles or individuals involved. Timely reporting helps officers and partner agencies investigate effectively, identify offenders and take appropriate action to protect the local environment.
