In line with government regulations – The Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017 – Kent Police has followed the reporting principles set out in the UK Government’s methodology, which came into force in April 2017, to collate and publish data on the amount and cost of facility time within Kent Police. The data represents the financial year 1 April 2020 – 31 March 2021. The Unison Branch for Kent Police have experienced a reduction in stewards in the past twelve months due to natural attrition or competing responsibilities which has meant that some stewards have not been able to continue with their steward role. The number of employees who were relevant union officials during the reporting period has reduced by 10, from 33 to 23 employees. This is reflected in table 1 – Relevant Union Officials.

Kent Police reports that its Union officials spend 4.44% of time on paid trade union activities as a percentage of total paid facility time, compared to 4.74% last year. Of the total facility time, 40.89% is spent on paid Trade Union duties and 59.11% is spent on paid Trade Union activities.
