2. Pay and benefits
Joining us as a contact handler is a genuinely rewarding role – not just for the satisfaction you get from helping our communities - but for the competitive benefits package:
On appointment your starting salary will be £26,385 and where performance standards are maintained you will receive annual increments, up to £30,453 (pro rata if you work part-time hours).
Some contracts will receive an additional 10% shift allowance, you will find further information about this in shift patterns.

You can expect to have a minimum of 23 days of paid holiday each year. This is in addition to public holidays.
You can also expect to receive other forms of leave, including:
- maternity, paternity and adoption leave
- special leave with and without pay
- parental leave
After your training period, you can apply for flexible working arrangements.
However, each case is looked at individually and on its own merits. We will consider all requests and will try to accommodate them provided they fit with the operational demands.
We expect you to be flexible and we strive to be a flexible employer. You will be advised of your shifts in advance, allowing you to plan your work-life balance accordingly.
You can choose to pay in to the Local Government Pension Scheme where Kent Police will also contribute to your retirement benefits. Your scheme contributions also provide you with protection for your loved ones in the event of your death.
